In the US, a 13-year-old may have prevented a serious accident with his intervention. Dillon Reeves stopped a bus carrying about 60 students after the driver lost consciousness.
Surveillance camera footage shows the bus driver in the town of Warren, Michigan becoming visibly uncomfortable and waving for fresh air. She radioed that she was dizzy and that she had to stop the bus. Soon after, she loses consciousness as the bus moves on.
13-year-old Dillon reacts quickly. The boy rushes forward, grabs the steering wheel and brings the bus to a stop. He also calls his classmates to call 911. “A quick-thinking seventh-grader saw the driver was in distress, rushed to the front of the bus and helped stop it without incident,” said school district superintendent Robert Livernois. He couldn’t be prouder of the boy.

Councilor Jonathan Lafferty added that Dillon prevented what could have been “a very tragic accident”. According to the fire service, the 40-year-old bus driver is stable and has been taken to hospital for an examination.
