Shocking details of five murders in the US state of Texas came to light on Saturday. Authorities said the fugitive suspect shot and killed his neighbours, including an eight-year-old child, after they complained about his shooting practice in the yard. The suspected shooter, who is from Mexico, is wanted.
According to American media, the gunman had practiced shooting with his assault rifle in his garden near Houston on Friday evening. When his neighbors asked him to stop because their children couldn’t sleep, the man went berserk.
An eight-year-old child succumbed to his injuries
The neighbors called the police around 11:30 p.m. local time, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said. When the officers arrived, they saw a horrible picture: they found four dead and several seriously injured in the house. Four people were taken to hospital, but an eight-year-old child died of his injuries.
Victims died from shots to the head
According to the sheriff, the victims were all over the house, from the front door to a bedroom. Two small children, lying under two dead women, survived the massacre. Capers said on local ABC station KTRK that the women saved their children by protecting the little ones with their own bodies. The attacker literally executed his victims, most of them with shots to the head. The man was drunk and allegedly told his neighbors, “I can do whatever I want in my front yard.”
“All the victims were from Honduras,” Capers said at a news conference. An arrest warrant had been issued for five counts of murder against the 39-year-old suspect, police said. She asked everyone living in the area to stay home as a precaution.
