On Saturday afternoon, police officers were alerted to a bicycle theft in Vienna-Favoriten. A 20-year-old was arrested and locked in a cell. There he became so aggressive that he dislocated a police officer’s shoulder.
According to the police, the 20-year-old robber stole the bicycle from a 46-year-old in Himberger Straße by dragging the man off the bicycle and driving off with the stolen vehicle. The victim immediately alerted the police.
Riot at police inspection
The suspect was arrested a short time later and taken to the police station. Since he was already behaving aggressively there, the young man was locked up in a specially secured cell.
Shortly after 10 p.m., the 20-year-old claimed he needed to go to the toilet. However, he then refused to go back to jail. He rebelled so violently that he dislocated a police officer’s shoulder. The injured police officer has been taken to hospital.
Another attack on a police officer
A few hours later, the 20-year-old knocked on the cell door again. When officials reopened it while observing some security measures, he again assaulted a police officer. This time he even managed to get out of the cell for a while. With the support of other police officers, the man was recaptured and arrested. Pepper spray was also used.
The 20-year-old was reported on suspicion of theft, grievous bodily harm and resistance to state authority.
