The cup final between Sturm Graz and Rapid Wien on Sunday attracted around 30,000 football fans to the Wörthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt. The police praised the guests and took stock.
“It is impressive that some 30,000 football fans suffered only two physical injuries and a few administrative violations,” said police spokeswoman Waltraud Dullnigg. Around 1,000 emergency services from Carinthia, but also from Lower Austria, Styria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Burgenland and Vienna, as well as officials from WEGA and three drone teams ensured the safety of the numerous visitors that evening. “The comprehensive operational concept, which had been prepared for months, worked perfectly,” says Dullnigg with satisfaction. Most of the many fans have already left and police praised the discipline shown.
Minor incidents
Still: there are always black sheep! Although some residents moved their cars to safety before the football game started, Jasmine had to use the garden gate. “The match has left a few traces,” reports the resident, who lives very close to the stadium.
At night she heard a loud noise, but the surprise did not come until the next morning. Her garden gate was kicked over and damaged as a result.
