Eroski to achieve a profit of 64 million in 2022, 40% lower than last year

Date:

The group increased its gross turnover by 7% to 5476 million, partly due to the effect of inflation.

The group closed its accounts for 2022 with a net profit of 64 million euros, after a 7% increase in gross sales, to 5476 million. Net profit fell by 38.9% compared to last year, partly due to the increase in costs.

In a statement, the group has stressed that it has been a year “very affected” by the “sharp” increase in the cost of goods sold (on average 15%), “partially” taken over by the group against its gross margin, which was increased by one percentage point reduced to “include sales prices”.

Eroski, which remains the leader in Hego Euskal Herria, has emphasized that the increase in gross sales is mainly due to the effect of inflation on prices, which in the case of the group have increased on average by 12% compared to the average increase of 15% on product costs.

“Financial year 2022 was positive despite its complexity. We achieved a lower profit than last year due to the increase in costs, the normalization of the financial results and, in particular, the decision to reduce our margins to reduce prices and our promotional activities,” said Rosa Carabel, CEO of the Eroski Group.

The cooperative parent company Eroski S.Coop, in turn, has presented a positive result of 32.07 million euros, 45.3% lower than that of 2021.
