“Blood is still fresh” – Prigozhin demands ammunition for dozens of corpses

Date:

The head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has become abusive towards the Russian leadership in a video currently doing the rounds on social media. In the clip, which shows him in front of dozens of his slain mercenaries, he demands ammunition and makes serious accusations: “You scum sit there in your expensive clubs, your kids are living fine and recording their little YouTube videos! These men came here as volunteers and they die so you can get fat in your rich mahogany offices,” says the Wagner boss.

Although Prigozhin is not exactly known for mincing words, the clear, sharp words against the Moscow leadership are unusual. In the background of the video currently circulating, you can see blood-stained corpses who, according to Prigozhin, all lost their lives in fighting around Bakhmut on Thursday. “The blood is still fresh!” explains the mercenary boss while pointing to the dead.

“Where’s the damn ammunition?” Prigozhin shouts to the camera. While the elite and their descendants would enjoy themselves, its fighters would have five times less ammunition. The slain mercenaries came as volunteers and would now die so that the military leadership would have free passage, according to the Wagner boss. He blames Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and the country’s top general, Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov and the “bureaucratic elites” for the high number of deaths in his ranks.

“Scum will eat his goddamn guts in hell
It is a new high point in the dispute between the Wagner boss and the Kremlin. Only at the beginning of the week did Prigozhin demand 300 tons of artillery ammunition (equivalent to about 6,400 rounds) a day in order to capture the last areas of Bakhmut. According to another video on Telegram, he explained a few days ago that 86 soldiers lost their lives as they approached 120 meters in the disputed city. The fighting in Bakhmut is said to have killed tens of thousands of fighters on both sides. “These are someone’s goddamn fathers. someone’s sons And this scum, the [uns] If you don’t have ammunition, you’ll eat your goddamn guts in hell,” Prigozhin said.

But Prigozhin himself, with his military tactics, would have accepted the death of many of his soldiers. Often only lightly armed fighters were sent towards Ukrainian positions – with no significant armored vehicle support. With this you want to reveal the positions of the enemy, but on the other hand you suffer high human losses. After firing on the positions, more Wagner fighters were able to advance.

According to expert estimates, every second soldier in the mercenary force will lose his life on the battlefield in Ukraine – if these assumptions are correct, the death rate in the group would be much higher than in other combat units. Prigozhin recently spoke of “piles of a thousand corpses” a day. He threatened to withdraw his troops from Bachmut if the supply situation did not change.
