In total, the climate activists of the Vienna police will cost more than two million euros in 2023, of which 550,000 euros was caused by the last generation. The rest of the high amount goes to the guest top and the group Rebellion of Extinction.
A total of 18,000 hours of service
The number of arrests at the meetings is also remarkably high. 231 activists were deported by the officials, there were 600 administrative reports. According to the Viennese police, eight arrests were made on Friday alone. But the demonstrations not only cost the police money, but also time: namely 18,000 operating hours.
Last year the numbers were much lower: only 33 activists were arrested, including the number of hours the emergency services had to work.
