In February 2022, two then 18-year-old schoolgirls attacked three men, including with knives. One man suffered 13 cuts and stab wounds. The jury has now decided that the two young women committed attempted murder. They are sentenced to 13 years in prison and are committed preventively (not definitively).
They had alcohol and drugs with them and attacked three men with a knife in the middle of Graz. One victim sustained 13 stab and laceration wounds! The performance of two now 19-year-old schoolgirls at the beginning of last year was shocking. Since March, the two young women have to answer for themselves in court.
At the Graz Criminal Court, the main question on Friday was whether the girls were healthy. “Mindful, but limited”, was the expertise of forensic psychiatrist Manfred Walzl. The first suspect stated that he only held the second victim and stabbed the second suspect. But a witness testified that both girls had been stabbed.
On Friday, the girls’ chat logs were also read. “We killed people,” the second defendant wrote to a friend. And further: “We have to leave Graz.” I’m asking for a second chance, I want to graduate from high school.” Her friend, who was also accused, also apologized: “I’m very sorry, it hurt me when I saw the injuries.”
At 7 p.m., the jury’s verdict was finally clear: the girls were found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, aggravated coercion, and property damage, and one of the two was also found guilty of attempted grievous bodily harm. They should be locked up for 13 years and committed. Not legally binding.
