A young man (19) and his girlfriend were approached by two young people in Vienna-Penzing on Monday evening and then attacked with a knife. The boy suffered a puncture in his back, which he probably didn’t even notice at first because of the fright. He even got on the bus with his companion.
The young man and his girlfriend (20) went to a bus stop on Hüttelbergstrasse around 12:30 p.m., police spokesman Daniel Fürst said. Two other youths crossed the street, turned suddenly and followed the couple. They would have whistled.
Whistles were followed by punches and kicks
The boy apparently asked about the reason for the whistling. “Subsequently, the two suspects would have attacked the 19-year-old with punches and kicks,” said the spokesman. One of the youths also threatened to kill him with a knife in his hand.
Victim taken to hospital with stab wounds
When a bus pulled into the stop, the attackers ran away. The 19-year-old and his girlfriend, on the other hand, got in – and it wasn’t until they got into the car that they realized what had happened. The Viennese Professional Rescue Service provided the young man with urgent medical care and took him to hospital.
A suspect was arrested a short time later. According to the police, it concerns a 15-year-old Syrian. He had a knife – the alleged murder weapon – with him. The manhunt for the second suspect is underway.
