Date:

A botched drug sale led to the life-threatening stabbing of an 18-year-old in Wels (Upper Austria) on April 9. The perpetrator managed to escape and went into hiding for almost a month. The suspect (21) was arrested last Friday. He confessed during interrogation.

In Wels on April 9, around 4:30 pm, an 18-year-old was seriously injured by a knife wound. The seriously injured man was taken by a 17-year-old friend to the Wels Clinic, which is not far from the crime scene. Meanwhile, the perpetrator managed to flee and disappeared from the scene for weeks. The public prosecutor of Wels managed to obtain an international arrest warrant. Friday, however, the game of hide and seek was over.

Hidden in the bedroom
The suspect fled to Germany immediately after the crime, but has since returned to Wels. In his partner’s apartment, the handcuffs clicked for the 21-year-old. The attempted murder suspect tried to hide in the bedroom next to the bed. He was then questioned about the incident in front of a lawyer.

Dealing drugs since 2018
According to police, the 21-year-old is suspected of stabbing his opponent with a knife during a failed drug sale on Easter Sunday, stabbing him in the upper body and inflicting life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old fully complied during the interrogation. He is reported to the public prosecutor in Wels for attempted murder and selling about 200 grams of marijuana per month (sometimes also to minors) since 2018.

Six contestants shown
Six other people involved in the incident have been reported to the detective for nepotism, failure to provide assistance, acquisition and possession of narcotics and false testimony. The 21-year-old was transferred to Wels prison on the order of the Wels public prosecutor’s office.
