In Wels, Upper Austria, a truck and two cars were involved in an accident at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, in which five people were seriously injured.
A 76-year-old driver from Thalheim wanted to go straight through a junction on the B138 in Wels. His wife, who was the same age, was in the passenger seat. At the same time, a 70-year-old from Vorchdorf wanted to drive his car right through the intersection of Wiesenstraße. In his car were a 55-year-old and a 44-year-old from Laakirchen.
At the same time, a 43-year-old man from Wels drove into the intersection with a truck from Wiesenstrasse. A 41-year-old woman, also from Wels, was in his passenger seat.
Collision and chain reaction
A perpendicular collision between the 76-year-old’s car and the truck occurred at the intersection, after which the car was flung south into Kasbergstrasse. The truck then collided with the 70-year-old’s car. Significant damage was caused to all vehicles.
Injured to hospital
The 76-year-old, 55-year-old, 44-year-old, 43-year-old and 41-year-old were all so seriously injured in the collision that they were taken to the Kliniek Wels-Grieskirchen by the Red Cross.
