In an unusual situation, police officers found themselves on a mountain meadow in Villach-Land: they were looking for a lost woman. But they were “trapped” by a homeowner.
The woman had driven her car to the Alm on Sunday. Shortly before midnight, however, she raised the alarm that she was lost there and needed help. Police officers from the Feistritz/Drau inspection service immediately set off in their patrol car. When they drove there, they used a forest road and passed an open barrier. When they received the exact location information, the officers had to turn around because the woman was on a different route.
Barrier blocked return
But then came the nasty surprise: suddenly the barrier was locked and the police car could not go any further. Officers contacted the district police inspectorate, which had to locate the owner of the property. It turned out that he had just called the police and complained that a patrol car was driving on his forest path. The inspection officials asked the 61-year-old to go to the barrier and open it, as this would block a search.
File a report with the public prosecutor
The man complied with the request, but showed little insight towards the police officers who got stuck on the forest path. On site he refused to open the lock at the barrier and, even after the facts had been clarified, reluctantly gave the key to the officials. In the end, however, they were able to continue in the patrol car and were able to return the woman unharmed. The 61-year-old now has to take into account a declaration to the public prosecutor’s office in Klagenfurt.
