Emergency services rescued two men from Pinzgau on Tuesday morning who died in a tractor accident. The vehicle had strayed from the path for unknown reasons, flipped over several times and came to a stop after about 100 meters, the police said.
The emergency services in Saalbach-Hinterglemm were alerted early Tuesday morning. Passers-by had reported a crashed tractor in the Hacklberghütte area. Because the aid organizations were initially unable to get to the scene of the accident because there was still snow on the road, rescue helicopters and police helicopters were called in, according to the Red Cross.
Victim thrown from driver’s cab
All help turned out to be too late for a 30-year-old and a 48-year-old Pinzgauer. Presumably the men drove the tractor from the Alm towards the valley. This came from the forest path a few minutes from the cabin. It overturned several times and only stopped about 100 yards from the trail. The two occupants were thrown from the driver’s cab and fatally injured.
The police investigation into the accident is ongoing. It is also currently being determined when the accident occurred. A crisis intervention team took care of the relatives of the two road victims. The volunteer fire brigade of Saalbach has recovered the crashed tractor.
