Richard Beauvais lived the life intended for Edward Ambrose for 69 years. They demand compensation.
They were exchanged after birth in 1955 in Manitoba, Canada. But Richard Beauvais and Eddy Ambrose only discovered this 66 years later.
DNA test yielded surprising results
In 2021, Beauvais’ daughter wanted to know more about her Indigenous heritage, as her father identified himself as half French and half Métis (the indigenous ethnic group in Canada) throughout his life. She gave him a DNA test as a gift. The result was astonishing. According to the laboratory, there was no evidence of native or French roots, but rather of Ukrainian, Jewish and Polish descent.
Eddy Ambrose also took a DNA test. To his surprise, he was from Canada – Métis.
Compensation demanded
Beauvais and Ambrose contacted each other through the DNA testing provider’s website. They are now demanding compensation from the organizations responsible at the time. There are also fears that there could have been further mix-ups.
