A serious traffic accident took place on the B116 in Leoben at the Lerchenfeld/Europaplatz intersection on Tuesday morning. A cyclist (34) was seriously injured.
Both parties involved in the accident stopped their vehicles at around 9:40 a.m. because of the red light at the traffic-light-controlled intersection. When the traffic light turned green, the cyclist wanted to cross straight ahead. At the same time, the truck driver (39) wanted to turn right at this intersection.
Cyclists overlooked at intersection
The 39-year-old Slovenian may have overlooked the cyclist from Leoben. The cyclist became trapped under the truck and suffered serious injuries. The C17 rescue helicopter transported the man to the LKH Graz. Emergency services from the Leoben-Stadt and Leoben-Göss fire brigades and various police patrols were deployed.
