Sexual harassment? – Anonymous writing puts a strain on control center employees

Date:

In an anonymous letter, an alleged employee of Tyrol’s control center calls on ÖVP state security minister Astrid Mair to “redesign” Tyrol’s control center. She also speaks of alleged sexual harassment.

The author, who describes himself in the letter available to “Krone” as a “completely exhausted employee,” demands that State Councilor Mair investigate the “snake pit control center” and “take charge of prayer.”

She also informed Mair that she had also sent an anonymous letter to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office. In it she accuses a manager of “sexual harassment in the workplace”. Anyone who makes this public will not get a contract extension. And no less strong things: “As female employees, we are humiliated every day.”

“Unimaginable to me!”
Bernd Noggler, director of the control center in Tyrol, was stunned when the “Krone” informed him of the two letters. “I can’t say anything about the allegations of alleged sexual harassment in the company. I can’t imagine,” he said in bewilderment.

High staff turnover?
He dismissed rumors that had been circulating for some time that there was too much staff turnover – due to poor pay and employees who had no say in the division of labor. “The fluctuation is in the range of about ten percent that is common for shift work,” Noggler points out.

Country needs to do research first
The public prosecutor’s office confirmed receipt of the letter without going into further concrete steps for the time being. If a suspect is named, an explanation may generally be requested.

LR Mair said the service authority and supervisor were aware. It is important to her to promote and demand gender equality and safety at work. Such allegations must be investigated.
