Works Council’s word – Serious accusations: Tyrol control center takes a stand

Date:

After current and former employees of the Tyrolean control center anonymously contacted the “Tiroler Krone” and reported sexual harassment in the workplace, the control center is now responding with a counter statement. All allegations are “strongly” rejected.

In an anonymous letter, an alleged employee of the security control center, provincial councilor Astrid Mair, had asked to “rebuild” the control center of Tyrol. The woman also accused a supervisor of sexual harassment at work. Another – former – employee of the control room also spoke of sexual harassment and accused the management that there was no equality between men and women.

Company agreement and workshops on social interaction
What Bernd Noggler, general manager of the control center of Tyrol, already underlined in the first article of “Tiroler Krone” on this subject, is now confirmed by the works council in a statement on the website of the control center: All allegations are rejected. “As a works council, we condemn sexual harassment in the strongest possible terms, and we are not aware of any such case,” explains Lukas Leitner from the works council. You and the management always strive to create a good working atmosphere. For example, there is a separate working agreement on the subject of “social interaction in the company” and workshops on the subject.

Employees report positive things
Other employees of the control room also had their say in the statement. The working atmosphere is good, people have never had to deal with sexual harassment, confirm two employees from different departments. No distinction is made between women and men.

A shift worker also refuted a former employee’s accusation that women had no career opportunities and, for example, were not allowed to use a radio. “As an employee in the emergency department, I have been working on the radio for more than ten years and therefore also in the control room,” explains the woman, who says she is responsible for 40 employees on day shift and constantly makes complex decisions.

Finally, the works council states that the management, operational management and the coordination team of the Tyrol incident room also reject all allegations.
