Specifically, 2,589 transactions were registered in Euskadi and Navarra, compared to almost 2,700 in February.
Housing purchases and sales fell again nationwide in March by 5.7% in the inter-annual rate, with this indicator continuing to cool and accumulating negative for two consecutive months, in a context marked by the rise in the interest rates to curb inflation and the resulting rise in borrowing costs.
Specifically, it is down almost four points from the previous month, housing sales throughout Hegoalde fell by 3.79%, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). However, taking into account the interannual rate, there is a decrease of 29% in Navarre, while in the Basque Country it is 9.1%.
Specifically, 55,778 surgeries were recorded in March across the state, 2017 of which were in the Basque Country and 572 in Navarre.
Overall, the declines, which ended with a fall of more than 10% after December, were interrupted in January by a 6.6% increase in the state as a whole. In February they fell again in the same proportion, a trend that continued in March.
In March, sales of both new and second-hand homes fell compared to the same month in 2022.
The largest decline was in new ones, with a year-over-year decline of 7.5% to 10,469 units.
For their part, second-hand home sales, which continue to lead the market by accounting for more than 80% of transactions, fell 5.3% in March to 45,309 transactions.
Compared to February, however, both experienced growth, 11.9% in the case of second-hand housing and 7.9% in new construction.
With this, sales of new homes have fallen by 3.9% so far this year, softening to 1.6% in the case of second-hand.
More than 90% of sales recorded in March were for vacant homes, 51,302 units, down 6% from the same month of the previous year.
Social housing generated 4,476 transactions, 2.8% less than in 2022.
The number of home sales between individuals in March was 37,796, which is 8.1% less than in the same month of 2022.
It fell by 29% in Navarre and by 9.1% in Euskadi
Annual declines were recorded in March in 12 of them by the Autonomous Communities, with the largest declines in Navarre (29%); Balearic Islands (26.8%); Cantabria (17.9%); Madrid (15.3%) and Aragon (15%).
There were also declines in Castilla-La Mancha (11%); Basque Country (9.1%); Galicia (8.2%); Catalonia (7%); Andalusia (6.3%); Murcia (4.2%) and Castilla y León (0.3%).
For its part, it rose only in Extremadura (8.2%); Asturias (7.2%); Valencian Community (6.9%) and La Rioja (1.2%).
