However, the driver of the vehicle can no longer be questioned about this. He was shot by police and died a short time later in hospital.
Video showed the car parked in the destroyed lobby and people frantically running out of the building (see below). The police have also not provided any information about whether the suspect is a man or a woman. The matter is still under investigation, they said.

The Chinese consulate condemned the “violent attack” in a statement. Serious damage was caused to the building. The US must ensure the safety of personnel there and investigate the matter, the report said. A summit of the Asia-Pacific states is planned for next month in California, where Chinese head of state Xi Jinping may also attend. However, China has not yet confirmed Xi’s participation.
