Gipuzkoa Provincial Council will have new budgets in 2025 thanks to PP support

Date:

The PP will vote in favor of the Gipuzkoa budget project after agreeing on items worth 30 million. Eider Mendoza has appreciated the PP’s support and said they will continue to “work with the rest of the political parties.” EH Bildu has resigned and will submit an amendment to the whole.

The Gipuzkoa provincial minority government (PNV and PSE-EE) will approve the legislature’s first budget, following the PP’s support for government bills announced on Thursday. Last year, the lack of support forced the executive branch to withdraw its proposal and extend the bills for 2023.

The PP’s support guarantees that the approval of the 2025 accounts, which have a historic endowment of EUR 1,218 million, will be voted on at the plenary meeting scheduled for December 20 at the General Meetings.

PP spokesman Mikel Lezama announced at a press conference in San Sebastián that his group had voted in favor of the draft budget after introducing several measures, including a pilot plan to combat population aging through regularization, training and integration of migrants and support for industrial exports.

Lezama did not detail the exact amount involved in these changes. These have yet to be recorded in a signed document, although he recalls that his group’s initial ambitions started with a figure of 30 million euros.

The PP has announced that it will enable new budgets in Gipuzkoa out of “honesty and responsibility,” because “it would not be good” for Gipuzkoa to compete with Bizkaia “under inferior conditions.” As he explained, they assessed what it would mean for Gipuzkoa to approve or reject these regional accounts, and decided that “the political discrepancy, the partisan struggle cannot be an obstacle for Gipuzkoa to advance”.

The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council remains open to more support after the PP’s ‘yes’

The general deputy of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendozahas appreciated the PP’s support for the 2025 regional budget project and stated that they will continue to “work together with the rest of the political parties.”

Eider Mendoza has emphasized in statements to the media that the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council has made efforts to prepare a “single project” that would meet the demands of all parties, including “many coinciding” and complementary elements. .

As you recall, the last meeting with the three opposition political groups took place last Wednesday. “We all agreed with them that we would move forward and the first to say yes was the Popular Party.”

From there – Mendoza said – we will continue to work together with the rest of the political parties, because we are very clear that we must continue to work together to move forward as a territory.”

EH Bildu will table an amendment to the entire budget

EH Bildu, on the other hand, has announced that it will amend the entire budget and has criticized the fact that the regional government has reached agreements on the bills with the PP, a “residual party in Gipuzkoa” that in its opinion represents a “political anomaly”. ” “.

EH Bildu’s spokesperson at the Gipuzkoa General Assemblies, Maddalen Iriartehas criticized the fact that the provincial government has submitted the same proposal to EH Bildu and PP, with the sovereigntist coalition being the leading force in the area. That’s why he considers it ‘a missed opportunity’.
