Despite these precautions, the birth may have overwhelmed the lioness, as the big cat ate three of her cubs. Another baby had died of natural causes just hours after birth. According to the zoo, his lungs probably weren’t fully expanded.

However, the zoo is confident that the offspring will be fine next time. “Aarany” and “Kiron” would get along very well.
