Because of the Wagner threat? – Russia reinforces its troops at Bakhmut

Date:

According to British intelligence, Russia has reinforced its troops in the battle for the city of Bakhmut. This could be in response to tactical gains in territory by the Ukrainian army and public threats from the Wagner mercenary group. The Wagner group for its part had announced that they would stop fighting in Bachmut.

“Over the past four days, Russia has most likely deployed several battalions to reinforce the Bakhmut front,” the defense ministry said in London on Saturday. Few Russian units are believed to be available in Ukraine, so the move to the Bakhmut area represents a remarkable commitment by the Russian command to success in the conflict,” British Ministry officials said.

Kiev confirmed data
The British Ministry of Defense publishes daily information on the state of affairs since the start of the war in Ukraine. It says it wants to counter Russian representation and keep allies in line. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maljar had previously stated that the Russian army had moved several thousand troops to Bakhmut. “The enemy can’t win with quality, so they try with quantity,” she wrote on Facebook.

Explosions in Mariupol
Meanwhile, fighting is also raging in Mariupol and Kiev (see video above). The airport of the port city of Mariupol occupied by Russian troops was shaken by several explosions on Friday evening. This is reported by the Russian news agency Tass, which referred to the local authorities. Video recordings of explosions circulated on social networks, the cause and consequences of which were not known for the time being.

Neither the Russian nor the Ukrainian military have commented on the incident. The port city on the Sea of Azov was captured last year after months of heavy fighting. Large parts were destroyed.

The eleventh Russian attack this month has now been counted in Kiev. Numerous combat drones destroyed two houses, cars and road surfaces. The Ukrainian Air Force spoke in a statement about a total of 18 Iranian Shahed-136/131 so-called kamikaze drones shot down in the Kiev region. No one was injured. Falling debris caused a fire in a house, which has since been extinguished.

“Pointless Attacks”
In the past week, the Russian military had fired on Kiev as well as other regions, including rockets. It is estimated that the Russian military leadership first tried to attack the energy infrastructure and now wants to rob the people of Ukraine of their sleep with constant nightly attacks. The leadership in Kiev spoke of “pointless and costly attacks” that were a sign of the enemy’s desperation. After all, the Kremlin chief, Vladimir Putin, has not been successful on the battlefield for a long time.
