Dangerous find in East Tyrol: During a search for a 95-year-old who had been reported missing, police found a World War I mortar shell in his home. The war relic was removed. The missing person has finally been found.

The 95-year-old East Tyrolean was swallowed by the face of the earth – relatives raised the alarm with the police and reported her missing. A search was launched – of course, the home of the elderly man was also thoroughly searched.

The grenade was in the attic
The emergency services eventually came across the war relic in the attic. “It was a World War I mortar round,” an official said when asked by “Krone”. “The grenade was then opened by the police demining service, classified as non-hazardous war scrap and then professionally disposed of,” the statement said.

Fortunately, the 95-year-old was eventually found. According to police, he was in hospital.
