A new site at the Muslim cemetery in Graz currently gives a neglected picture. A woman from Graz who recently had her husband buried here is appalled at the state of the resting place.
Sinking graves, heaps of earth full of stone fragments and disorder: a newly constructed area at the Muslim cemetery in Graz currently makes a less pious impression. A woman from Graz who recently had her late husband buried here turned angrily to the “Krone”: “I paid thousands of euros for the funeral and I am shocked at how things look here. From an ethical point of view alone, it is this is unacceptable.”
“Grave maintenance is the responsibility of the owners”
She had already contacted the cemetery administration and was put off: the owners were responsible for caring for the grave. This is confirmed by the request of “Krone” from Bestattung Graz: “The paths and meadows will soon be prepared by our employees. The care of the grave is the responsibility of the owners.”
The stricken woman from Graz is also disappointed by her “serious neighbours”: “I have never been to a Muslim cemetery and I am appalled at how careless and unkempt the graves are here.”
