A 26-year-old Hungarian fell twelve meters on Monday at 2 p.m. at a construction site at the Joanneumring in Graz. He hit a banister. The man is in mortal danger.
The accident happened in a building complex in the center of Graz, the 26-year-old was doing spatula work. For this he stood on a work platform of about twelve meters high in the stairwell. Then the young man suddenly fell – why is currently unclear.
One thing is clear: the construction worker hit a banister. Colleagues at work found him and started the rescue chain. The 26-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Graz regional hospital after receiving first aid from the Red Cross and an emergency doctor. There, according to the police, he would have undergone emergency surgery or be put into an artificial deep sleep.
Was the work platform set up incorrectly?
In addition to the police, the Labor Inspectorate immediately started an investigation. “According to inside information, the work platform in question could not have been set up properly,” the police said.
