The European Union has condemned the “terrorist” attack and called for an end to the violence.
At least three people have died and others eight were injured this Thursday, which coincided with the Israel Independence Day, following a knife attack in the town of Elad, in the central district of the same name, as reported by the medical services. Several of the injured are in serious condition and one of them is in critical condition.
According to witnesses, two men threw themselves at passers-by in a city park. One of them was carrying a knife and another what appeared to be a pistol, although it has been ruled out that any shots were fired.
Police have launched a special operation, placing barricades and deploying a helicopter to locate the vehicle used by witnesses to flee the area, according to witnesses.
“Our people will continue to fight and defend the Al Aqsa Mosque by all means. Their attacks will hit the Zionists and settlers wherever they are,” the Islamic Resistance Movement spokesman said. HamasAbd al-Latif al-Qanou.
It is also expressed along these lines Islamic Jihadcalling this a “heroic operation” in response to “the red lines” that “settler gangs” dared to cross when they “desecrated” the Al Aqsa mosque.
The European Union condemns the attack
For its part, the European Union has condemned the attack, which it has described as: “terrorist” and expressed his condolences to the victims, to whom he wished a speedy recovery, and to their families.
“The European Union stands with Israel and its people at this difficult time. This violence must stop. The European Union remains determined to prevent and fight terrorism,” he said in a statement.
The place has been the scene of a peak in tensions since April, when the celebrations of Ramadan, Holy Week and Jewish Passover coincided, amid a strengthening of Israel’s security operations following the March attacks that left 15 dead.
As a result, the military has stepped up its operations in the West Bank by conducting a series of raids that have only clouded the mood and provoked a series of clashes that killed at least 30 Palestinian civilians.
