Under the influence of alcohol, two men rioted on Monday evening in Wehlistrasse in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. The two perpetrators wanted to break open a vending machine with an ax and destroyed a bus stop with the same weapon.
A witness saw what happened from afar and immediately alerted the police. When officers arrived on scene, a machine had already been demolished. The perpetrators wanted to break into the vending machine with an axe. With the same ax they destroyed a bus stop.
Ax secured
The officers managed to apprehend the two men near the crime scene. While initially denying the crime, they confessed during interrogation. The ax was found and secured at the 27-year-old’s home address.
1.96 and 1.34 promille
An alcohol test was done on the men. The 27-year-old had 1.96 per thousand, the 28-year-old 1.34 per thousand. Both are currently being held by the police.
