Criminals stole jewelery and watches worth 200,000 euros from a shopping center in Haid (Upper Austria) in four minutes. The jeweler involved assumes that the perpetrators were professionals.
The alarm went off at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday. At that time, crooks broke into Ludwig Hochstöger’s jewelry store in the Haid shopping center. The senior boss: “It was a mess. The perpetrators cut open the scissor gate and forced it open, emptied all the display cases and put the loot in two bags.”
According to the senior boss, the damage has not yet been precisely estimated: “But we assume a sales value of 200,000 euros. The crooks focus on high-quality Rado watches. Dummies, ie counterfeit goods, simply left them lying around. The crooks knew exactly what they wanted. They also broke open the display case with the diamond jewels.”
Escape with e-scooter
When several police patrols arrived, the two perpetrators each fled with an e-scooter. A nightly hunt began. But the immediate search operation with several police patrols, two assistance dog patrols and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) unfortunately had a negative result. A policeman would have caught one of the crooks within a hair’s breadth, but that did not work and the officer was therefore annoyed.
Two backpacks and an e-scooter were secured in the immediate vicinity. It is determined at full speed.
