When used after a collision – angry driver threatened the fire brigade: “Show yourself!”

Date:

It is difficult for the volunteer fire brigade in Fügen in the Tyrolean Zillertal: While the comrades helped direct traffic and cleared the way after an accident on the Zillertaler federal highway, they had to be insulted by an angry motorist.

After a collision between two cars in Fügen last Wednesday, the fire brigade also arrived. During the clean-up work, FF Fügen directed traffic and took turns leading the cars past the accessible site of the accident. Both vehicles were removed from the main road as quickly as possible, so that it was clear again after about an hour.

Not the first time comrades have been offended
An angry driver expressed his anger at the delay with the fire comrades. “A colleague stopped traffic heading north,” said Reinhard Haun, commander of FF Fügen, “so a man got out of his car and told us to clear the road again.” Otherwise he would file a report, Haun quotes the road user and is annoyed: “We just did our job.”

This was not the first time Haun and his comrades had been insulted when directing traffic. Young members in particular would find it difficult to deal with such situations.

Incident published on Facebook
To draw attention to the fact that they only do their job when they block roads or direct traffic, the Fügen fire brigade has made the most recent incident public on the internet: “It is always a pleasure to be threatened with Justitia in your free time, even if the reason for the charges is a mystery to us,” the comrades write on Facebook.

They could not do anything about a partial blockage of the road, the fire brigade reminds them. “As a reminder, we all work (not just the people who get stuck in traffic) and drive to missions in our spare time.”
