An actor, a model, a showman – that’s how Christian S. described himself in the Viennese regional court. Therefore, he cannot resist giving a speech at his appeal hearing at the Vienna Higher Regional Court. He did not appeal, but the prosecutor’s office disagreed with the sentence.
The corpse of a man lay under Christian S’s couch for 25 days. A jury at the Vienna Regional Court ruled that he was not responsible for his death. He is admitted for dangerousness, received seven years in prison for, among other things, sexual abuse of defenseless people – after all, he raped the unconscious 43-year-old.
Body in ten garbage bags and two sheets
At the end of September 2021, he made an appointment with the later victim for a chemsex date, or sex under the influence of drugs. The man eventually died of a self-inflicted overdose of liquid ecstasy. Christian S. wrapped the dead man in ten garbage bags and two sheets and stuffed him into the box bed of his sofa – where police found him completely decomposed almost a month later.
At the beginning of the trial at the Vienna court, the 52-year-old shocked everyone in the courtroom with his description of the evening: “I thought: Oida, there’s no such thing! Another dead man!” Because the police found a body in the home of Christian S. in the past. However, the investigation of this case was stopped.
Acquitted of rape resulting in death
In January, the court was only concerned with the death of the 43-year-old Iraqi. The prosecutor’s office is charged with rape resulting in death, serious sexual abuse of minors and serious robbery of another man with whom the Viennese had arranged to have sex. The jury acquitted the main charge.
On the advice of court psychiatrist Peter Hofmann, he was placed in a forensic therapeutic center in addition to the prison sentence for dangerousness. “You can assume that the defendant is in a completely different world,” he told the jury. Christian S. also showed this during the trial before the Vienna court: he was an actor, a model, a showman – “I always wanted to become a porn actor and direct.”
Prosecutor’s appeal rejected
While the Viennese believed in his innocence to the end, it is now the public prosecutor’s office that is appealing against the verdict. There are “only reasons for annoyance, which are not offset by mitigating reasons” – such as his 15 previous convictions. However, the Higher Regional Court dismissed the prosecution. The judge said the sentence was fair.
Christian S. seems to have come to terms with his 16th – and now final – conviction: “With humility and respect, I think seven years is enough to change for the rest of my life. I accept the verdict so that I can continue to grow and develop.” It helps him learn to live his drug-free life.
He also wants to tell the court: “I don’t feel hatred. The meditation and the five Tibetans help me with that”. In prison, he now wants to concentrate on his Qigong exercises – a Chinese form of meditation, concentration and movement to cultivate body and mind…
