This is not something you want to see when you look out the cabin window shortly before takeoff: smoke pouring from the tail of a Boeing 777 about to take off from Naha Airport in Japan. The takeoff was aborted.
The terrifying incident on Sunday involved another plane from the troubled aircraft manufacturer Boeing. Heavy smoke was coming from the auxiliary engine of the plane that was flying to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Fuel had leaked.
Air traffic control then sent fire engines to the scene of the accident, but fortunately the emergency services did not have to intervene. The airline is currently inspecting the aircraft and has been able to repair the damage. The flight finally took place a few hours later.
