Incredible case of environmental crime in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol: An initially unknown perpetrator threw 280 kilograms of waste over a steep bank along the Hahntennjoch mountain pass. Bad luck for the cheeky “disposer”: Clues to the polluter could be found among all the lamps, floor coverings, etc.
Police had already learned on Friday that in the municipality of Pfafflar on Bschlaber Landesstraße on the climb to Hahntennjoch a “significant amount of waste” had been dumped over the steep bank on the valley side in rocky terrain.
“Garbage recovery” with safety rope
The waste was eventually collected by the community worker in collaboration with the forester. The rescue was only possible with great effort and the use of a safety rope,” said the director. A total of 280 kilograms of waste was involved – including carpeting, lamps and old paper.
Dragged through all the junk
The entire mess was then laboriously searched by city officials and the police to find clues as to who was responsible. And some were even found! “Finally, on Monday, a 24-year-old local man was questioned. During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he had thrown out all the garbage on May 26,” the investigators said.
The alleged perpetrator will due to violation of the Waste Management Act reported to the competent authority.
