Trials are ongoing – Halloween rioters kept asylum status

Date:

Following the Halloween riots in Linz, it was announced that convicted criminals would be denied their asylum status. However, the recording has not yet been completed and there are good reasons for this.

There were wild scenes that took place on Halloween night on October 31 in Linzer Landstrasse. Hundreds of young people rioted and fired with fireworks and stones. The police came in large numbers. In the end, 189 people were checked for hours and their personal data registered, including numerous asylum seekers and asylum seekers. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) announced at the time that he would proceed with all rigor and withdraw the asylum status of the perpetrators.
