Dramatic incident in South Korea: A passenger on an Asiana Airlines flight opened the plane’s emergency exit on approach to the city of Daegu. As the airline announced, the Airbus A321-200 machine was on a domestic flight carrying nearly 200 passengers on Friday when the incident occurred.
Asiana Airlines told AFP that when the plane was about 200 meters above the ground before landing, a passenger sitting near the emergency exit opened the door manually. This led to breathing problems for some passengers and several of them were taken to hospital after landing.
The incident did not lead to more serious injuries, it said. The man who opened the emergency exit has been taken to the police for questioning.
Nine passengers were taken to hospital
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported nine hospitalizations. She released a short video of the incident. It shows how a strong draft penetrates through the open aircraft door and ruffles the hair of some passengers. Some cry out in amazement.
