ELA, LAB and ESK convened an extraordinary meeting of the plenary meeting of the works council of the Mercedes Benz Vitoria plant next Monday to call a general assembly of workers to force management to negotiate the new agreement.
The management of the Mercedes plant in Vitoria told unions a month ago that it has paralyzed negotiations on the collective labor agreement until it is known in which factory of the multinational the new electric model will be produced.
The chairman of the works council of Mercedes Benz-Vitoria, Igor Gevara, has assured that the current situation at the factory is “unsustainable” because the staff is “outraged” at what is happening, with no pay increases for this year or for the last one.
Gevara has said that after 16 months of negotiations, in which the company “fooled the staff”, there is now a situation where management will foreseeably propose an “explicit negotiation”, scaring the employees and warning them that an agreement must be closed by a certain date.
