“It’s time for something extraordinary again!” That’s what sporting director Ernst Artner said to himself. Since then, the 48-year-old from Burgenland has been kicking hard. He tells the “Krone” about the most beautiful bike path he has ever seen and also about his first fall.
Cycling is his great passion. Whether adventurous tours to Rome or Paris – Artner from Bad Tatzmannsdorf always faces special challenges. During his very personal “100 years of Burgenland” journey in September 2021, the athletic police officer covered an impressive 2,200 kilometers and 20,000 meters of altitude to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece in just a few days. Now he plans to ride his road bike 2,000 miles to Lisbon on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.
