“Land below”! Upper Styria in particular was hit by severe storms on Thursday – the most violent thunderstorm emptied over the Ausseer Land in the evening. Regionally, up to 50 liters per square meter fell in a very short time! The fire brigade was in action.
Regionally, there were sometimes heavier precipitation in the entire state, especially in Upper Styria. But worst of all, a strong thunderstorm broke over the Ausseerland. As the weather pros at Ubimet know, up to 50 liters of torrential rain fell within minutes.
It all happened at lightning speed, but the consequences were extreme: mud and water rolled through the streets of Bad Aussee, placing a state of emergency. Dozens of troops from the local fire brigade and those from Strassen, Obertressen, Reiter, Eselsbach/Unterkainisch and Altausseer immediately arrived on the scene. They had to clear roads and pump out cellars.
Large parts of Styria are also expected to be affected by storms tomorrow, but according to Ubimet, the mountains will be largely affected. Walkers beware!
