Remarkable attack on several members of the Freedom Youth on Thursday evening in Innsbruck: several young people were showered with paint on the terrace of a restaurant, the attacker managed to escape. The police are investigating.
The attack took place around 8:45 p.m. on the terrace of the Innsbruck restaurant. The Freedom Youth was just finishing their monthly regular table there when, according to the police, a previously unknown woman entered the terrace and showered the young people with paint. “The woman then fled, but the victims were able to stop them within meters of the crime scene,” officials explained. But another male person came to the aid of the attacker, so that both could flee first on foot and then on bicycles.
Police ask for witnesses, FPÖ shocked
Police are now investigating the identity of the unknown and are asking any witnesses for information. Even though the FPÖ speaks of a “violent attack” in a broadcast, according to the police, none of those involved were injured in the incident. It is still being investigated what kind of paint the party members were showered with.
The Tyrolean Freedom Party was shocked by the attack and suspected an attack from the left-wing extremist scene. Nevertheless, FJ state chairman Michael Henökl said: “We will not be intimidated.”
