The volunteer fire brigade had to do unusual work in Salzburg on Monday. A cow had to be rescued from a mountain.
The Stuhlfelden volunteer fire brigade has never experienced this kind of operation. A concerned farmer reported Monday morning (around 08.45 am). A young cow named “Wolli” fell near the Bichlalm, injured herself and was unable to get up.
Steep terrain
“In addition, the terrain there is relatively steep,” explains the local fire chief Philipp Holzer. An official veterinarian decided that the approximately one and a half year old cow could only be rescued by helicopter. But at first the pilot could not land – visibility was obscured by the fog. “Then we secured the animal,” says Holzer, who was deployed with 15 Floriani.
Wolli was eventually handed over to the farmer good, but exhausted. The mission of the Stuhlfelden volunteer fire brigade ended at 3 p.m. and will probably be remembered for a long time.
