The parents-to-be took it easy, but on their way to Graz to see the midwife, they had to drop out prematurely. Because her little Miriam wanted to see the light of day on the spot!
When 28-year-old Brigitte Smit went into labor early on Tuesday morning, she and her husband Stefan left Murtal for the midwifery practice in Graz-Gösting. Completely relaxed, without stress, you start the journey.
Next exit: birth
Shortly after the Gleinalm tunnel, the young woman, who is herself a midwife, goes into labor, but at increasingly shorter intervals. After a phone call to the midwife on duty, the expectant parents realize: they have to take the next turn! Thus, the two end up in a parking lot at the Deutschfeistritz stop just before the Gleinalm tunnel. The Red Cross will also be there immediately.
A few minutes later, little Miriam is born in the back seat of the family car with the help of the paramedics.
Mother and baby are happy and grateful
Immediately afterwards, the emergency doctor arrived, cared for mother and baby and escorted the young family to the midwifery center.
The new parents are grateful and relieved: ,,Despite difficult circumstances, we had a wonderful birth experience.” They warmly thank the Red Cross.
