An accident interrupted a competition at the Austrian 3D Archery Championships in Bad Kleinkirchheim. A thunderstorm even prevented the descent.
More than 500 archers from all over Austria are currently enlivening Bad Kleinkirchheim at the Austrian 3D Championships. However, there was an unpleasant incident on Friday evening: Because a female archer injured her foot, the competition at the middle station Kaiserburg had to be interrupted for about 1.5 hours due to the helicopter rescue and the police investigation.
Although the cable cars extended their operating hours, 160 athletes remained on the mountain. “Because a thunderstorm came up, operations had to be stopped shortly after 5 p.m. for safety reasons,” says Jakob Forstnig of the tourism organization.
“Left Out in the Rain”
Wolfgang Halvax, president of Carinthia’s archery, is annoyed: “160 of our athletes were then left out in the cold and in the rain!” The organizers had to organize their own shuttles to get everyone back to the valley safely.
