In Tyrol, a resident (61) collapsed on Saturday afternoon due to a medical emergency and fell backwards into a stream. His wife immediately provided first aid and raised the alarm. The man was eventually recovered and flown to a hospital in Salzburg.
The incident happened just before 11:30 p.m. “In the municipality of St. Ulrich am Pillersee, a 61-year-old Austrian collapsed on the edge of a stream bed as a result of a medical emergency,” police said. The man fell backwards into a stream of water. His wife tried to pull him out of the water, but couldn’t.
Restored by fire and water rescue
The woman immediately performed first aid and started the rescue chain. “The patient was rescued by the fire brigade and water rescue teams,” said the management. After first aid, the man was flown by air ambulance to the Christian Doppler Clinic in Salzburg. The St. Ulrich a. P. volunteer fire brigade with 20 emergency services, the local water rescue service in St. Ulrich a. P., a first responder, the rescue service, a rescue helicopter and two police patrols.
