Styria was again hit by heavy storms on Sunday afternoon. The municipalities of Gössendorf and Thondorf were particularly affected. Houses there were under water up to two meters. The all-clear has been given for the next few days.
Greetings from the marmot every day: Yesterday it rained and thundered again in the afternoon on the already thoroughly saturated Styrian soil. Especially in the south of Graz, the river could no longer absorb water.
Cellars flooded and roads were closed
This was particularly evident in Gössendorf, where the entire Weidenweg was completely flooded: gardens, streets and cellars were under water of up to two meters, reported Marc Pacher, commander of the FF Gössendorf, which was in continuous use.
The people from Gössendorf and their colleagues from Thondorf worked for four hours with a total of 60 people to pump out the water masses and prevent further intrusion through sandbags. The B 73 also had to be closed for this period.
Only isolated thunderstorms, summer temperatures
There is good news for the residents for the coming days: clouds and sun alternate, thunderstorms should only occur very occasionally throughout the week. Temperatures rise to a summery 25 degrees.
