A tragic accident took place in the vicinity of Reichenfels on Monday afternoon. A 38-year-old woman from Wolfsberg picked up her two-year-old son from kindergarten and went home with him. At the bridge over the Sommeraubach, the son ran ahead, despite his mother’s request to stay with her, hold on to the bridge railing and look into the stream.
The mother was about to grab hold of her son by the shirt when he lost his balance and fell about three meters into the Sommeraubach.
Three construction workers were there immediately and rescued the child from the creek. “The boy suffered such serious injuries that he had to be put into a deep sleep on the spot,” says Michael Umschaden, pilot of the Christophorus 11. The child was immediately flown to the clinic in Klagenfurt.
