Mowing forage pastures can be dangerous for animals. Farmer Christoph Haller, who runs the Bullinarium in Markt Allhau (Burgenland), relies on a new assistance system. The area is scanned while mowing.
Spring mowing can be dangerous for fawns, hares, pheasants or other small wildlife. To prevent this, Haller’s farm uses Pöttinger’s new Sensosafe assistance system.
Regardless of the weather
Modern sensor technology scans the area while mowing and detects animals lying in the grass. “The big advantage over drones with a thermal imager is that Sensosafe works regardless of temperature and weather,” emphasizes Haller, who cares a lot about animal welfare.
At the same time, natural livestock farming and feeding with a lot of grass and hay play a central role on his farm. Markt Allhau’s beef specialist is also consciously committed to sustainability in other areas, for example by marketing its products in its own Bullinarium restaurant.
