More details have now come to light in the case of the man who has been detained in Vienna for seven months as a possible double murderer and who will be charged shortly: In front of the body of a 43-year-old man was found on October 25 2021 was found in the apartment of the 52-year-old in Penzing, neighbors had already warned the police because of the smell of putrefaction. However, the officers then noticed nothing suspicious and the apartment was not searched.
At the request of the APA, the National Police Service announced that the police had been called to the suspect’s address. The 52-year-old was also found. The reported corpse odor “could not be detected by the officers”, the police news agency emphasized. “At the time, there was no legal basis for a search of the apartment.”
However, in the apartment was the body of a 43-year-old who – at least according to suspicion – allegedly murdered the 52-year-old on September 30 after arranging a sex encounter with him on a gay dating platform. He is said to have given the man an intravenous overdose of liquid ecstasy in the left arm and, in the view of the prosecutor, acted with at least conditional intent to kill.
Both victims with perforations on their arms
The fact that the police were with him must have made the 52-year-old nervous, as according to the current state of the investigation he had been living in his apartment next to a dead man for three and a half weeks. Three hours later, the 52-year-old went to a police station and reported the body. After his arrest, the 52-year-old explained that he and the 43-year-old engaged in ‘chemsex’, that is, consuming psychoactive substances intravenously for the purpose of extra pleasure. He tried to “find a vein” in the 43-year-old.
Drug Dose Induced Poisoning
Then alarm bells started ringing for criminals, because on May 14, 2021, a dead man was found in the apartment of the 52-year-old, although there was no serious death at the time. The suspect is also said to have arranged a sex appointment with him – it has now become clear that traces of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, nut), from which liquid ecstasy is made, have been found during toxicological examination of the corpse. An expert’s opinion found that the dead man had ingested the active ingredient to an extent equivalent to poisoning. The cause of death was a resulting lack of oxygen. Striking: this body, like the 43-year-old who died 4.5 months later, had a tear in the left elbow.
The assumption that there could be other possible victims of the 52-year-old in addition to the three known cases has been investigated by police. No other victims could be identified, according to the Vienna prosecutor’s office. The Vienna Anti-Discrimination Agency for LGBTIQ Matters (WASt) is also not aware of any other suspected cases.
