Final verdict: Several years in prison after a brutal home burglary in the district of Amstetten and an armed bank robbery in Upper Austria. Three men – two Serbs and an Austrian – in court for aggravated robbery. They pleaded guilty.
A 43-year-old will probably never forget this morning: When the man from Mostviertler opened the door to what he assumed was a postman around 7:30 am in early November, he looked down the barrel of a Walter PPK . Arms in hand – an empty gun, it turned out later – two men shoved him back into the house, brutally beat him, tied him up and gagged him. Hoping for a valuable Rolex watch after an insider tip, the criminals combed all the rooms, only to find some cash, a stamp collection and much cheaper watches and tech devices. Because the 43-year-old had already sold the noble chronometer again.
Lean loot then thrown away again
Now two Serbs, aged 24 and 31, and a 22-year-old Austrian (he drove the vehicle) had to answer to the court in St. Pölten for aggravated robbery. “The sneaky robbery was planned,” says the prosecutor, referring to the victim who lives alone. “I got involved in something stupid,” the youngest of the bunch regrets being involved in the crime and promises atonement the next time he goes to church. In addition to the home burglary in the Amstetten district, the 24-year-old is said to have stolen 2,000 euros in an armed bank robbery in Upper Austria.
Victims suffer from fear
The well-known trio received prison sentences of eight, five and two and a half years – legally binding. The two victims together receive 7,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering.
