The Basque government says no one would understand “illegitimate actions” by the ertzainas in the Tour

Date:

Before the announcement of the Ertzaintza unions that they will use the ‘Grand Départ’ of the cycling race to ‘make visible’ the conflict, spokesperson Bingen Zupiria reiterated that the management is ‘keeping the doors open’ for negotiation.

The Basque government has taken care of that “wouldn’t cross anyone’s mind” performed by people with public responsibilities “acting outside the law”referring to the protests announced by the Ertzaintza unions during the passage of the Tour de France through Euskadi.

The executive spokesperson, Bingen Zupiria, has been questioned about the announcement made yesterday by representatives of Erne, ESAN, SiPE and Euspel that they will benefit from the impact of the cycling race to “visualize the conflict internationally”if the Basque government does not sit down to negotiate “dignified” terms.

According to the spokesperson, it is up to him to defend the professionalism of all people and entities, public and private, who have worked and will work during the passage of the French test through Basque territory, adding that no one would understand ” act outside the law”.

In this sense, Zupiria reiterated that the Basque Government, through the Security Council, Josu Erkoreka, has stated that it the open doors at all times to meet the trade unions” of the Ertzaintza, whom he has accused of “slamming the door on negotiations”. “Dialogue and negotiation are necessary”, he stressed.
