On Tuesday afternoon, a 49-year-old from Graz was injured in a climbing accident on the Röthelstein (Pernegg an der Mur, Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district).
Around 1 p.m., the 49-year-old went on a climbing trip on the Röthelstein with a 68-year-old friend. The experienced mountaineers from Graz opted for the so-called mosaic route. The 49-year-old was leading the way when he said he slipped on a wet rock.
The man from Graz fell about five feet into the rope and injured himself when he tried to hold on. After the injured man could no longer move his arm due to severe pain, the crew of the rescue helicopter Christophorus 17 rescued the 49-year-old from the wall by dew repair. The 68-year-old was able to descend independently. The rescue helicopter took the injured to the LKH Graz after first aid.
