There was no progress on the Kitzsteinhorn on Monday for two Belgian hikers. As a result, they had to be rescued by helicopter.
Two male Belgians wanted to go for a walk in Kaprun (Pinzgau) on Monday. But because of old snow remnants they couldn’t go any higher. A 27-year-old wanted to go to the Alpincenter on the Kitzsteinhorn with his 28-year-old partner from Mooserboden via the Hochkammerweg. Unfavorable conditions forced them to return.
Helicopter had to come
At about 2100 meters above sea level, the two had to realize that they were no longer making progress. So they decided to call 911. The climbers were brought down unharmed.
